Members of National Security Intelligence (NSI) in a drive arrested two people along with some 248 sacks of Open Market Sales (OMS) rice at Islampur on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Bijoynagar upazila on Friday noon.
The arrestees were identified as Jamal Miah, 50, son of Nannu Miah of Champaknagar village in the upazila, and Abdur Rahim, 40, son of Ruhul Amin of Senbagh upazila in Noakhali district.
Md Nabir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Bijoynagar Police Station, said an NSI team conducted the raid on a tip-off and arrested the duo when they were taking the OMS rice to Sreemangal in Moulvibazar.
