The Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested two alleged drug peddlers and recovered 18,000 pieces of Yaba tablets from Jatrabari area in the city on Friday.
The arrested were identified as Jakir Hossain and Sohel. Acting on a tip-off, a special team of the DB, led by its Assistant Commissioner Ruhul Amin Sagar, conducted a drive in front of Purnima cinema hall in Jatrabari at about 5:30 pm on Friday and arrested the duo along with the consignment of contraband yaba tablets.
During interrogation, the arrested drug dealers revealed that they have been involved in illegal drug trading in different districts, including the capital for a long time. A case was filed with Jatrabari Police Station in this connection.
