Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested two people along with 1,220 bottles of Indian Phensidyl syrup from Tollghor area near Mohanonda Bridge in the district town early Thursday.
The arrestees were identified as truck driver Lutfar Rahman,50, son of Ajgar Ali Pramanik, a resident of Radhanagar Bahadurpur area, and his helper Babu Hossain Jewel,20, son of Mobarok Hossain, a resident of Bangram Miapur in Sadar upazila of Pabna district.
Rab, in a press release, said tipped off, a team of the elite force led by Assistant Superintendent of Police Sahidar Rahman conducted a drive in the area and intercepted a truck coming from Sonamasjid land port at about 1:00am.
Rab members recovered 1,220 bottles of Phensidyl syrup after searching the vehicle and arrested the duo.
A case was filed in this connection.
