Police have arrested two persons in Cox’s Bazar district in a case filed over gang rape of a 15-year-old girl on a microbus.
The arrested persons are Jafor Alam alias Khorshed, 55, Eidgaon Microbus Driver Association’s general secretary, and Ahmad Ullah, 26, microbus driver.
Eidgaon Police Station officer in-charge (OC) Abdul Halim said the victim’s maternal grandfather filed a case with the police station against four persons on January 30.
The other accused are Jalal alias Tukkuilla, 19, and Jafar Alam, 40.
According to the case statement, the accused picked up the victim from Dhalghat area in the afternoon on January 28 when she was going to attend a birthday party of her friend’s younger brother.
As the victim tried to scream, they gagged her mouth.
Later, three accused – Jalal, Jafar and Ahmad– raped her inside microbus in Bohoddar Haat Microbus Stand.
They again violated her in Eidgaon Farid Ahmad College field at night on January 29.
The three phoned Khorshed on January 20 night and took her to the office of Eidgaon Microbus Driver Association in Mamtaz Market in DC Road of Eidgaon Bazar.
When they were taking the victim to another room, the girl screamed.
Hearing her screams, local police went to the spot and nabbed Khorshed while others managed to escape.
Police, later, conducted drives in different areas and arrested Ahmad Ullah.
The victim was sent to the One-Stop Crisis Centre at Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for medical test.
A police hunt is still on to arrest the other accused.
