Police arrested two people for their alleged involvement in torturing a 13-year-old boy over theft charge from Rajnagar Bandhupara village in Nalitabari upazila on
Tuesday. The arrestees are Ishak Mia, 30 and Rabiul Mia, 20 two sons of Abdus Salam of the village.
Bashir Ahmed Badal, Officer-in-Charge of Nalitabari Police Station, said the arrestees picked up the teenage boy and beat him up mercilessly after tying him up with a coconut tree for stealing a mobile phone on Sunday.
Later, the boy was taken to Upazila Health Complex.
The incident of torture went viral on the social networking site. A case was filed in this connection.
Kazi Ashraful Azim, superintendent of police, visited the spot the following day.
