A case was filed accusing two people including a woman for the rape of a thirteen-year-old at Kawnia village in Barguna’s Amtali upazila. Police have arrested Rubel Khalifa (28) and his accomplice Rashida Begum (45) in this connection, said Officer-in-charge of Amtali Police Station Md Shah Alam Hawladar. The incident took place around 4:00pm on November 8 at Rashida Begum’s house.
Police arrested them from their homes that night and both accused were produced before the Amtali Senior Judicial Magistrate’s Court this afternoon. Judge Md Shakib Hossain ordered to send them to jail.
According to police and case sources, Rashida Begum lured the girl to her house. Shortly afterwards, Rubel Khalifa from the neighboring village of Baithakata went to Rashida’s house and raped the girl. The victim informed her grandfather who filed a case with Amtali Police Station under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, accusing Rubel Khalifa and Rashida Begum, said OC Md Shah Alam Hawlader.
