2 gold smugglers arrested in Benapole

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested two gold smugglers along with 10 Pic gold bars from Putkhali border in Benapole Port Police Station on Wednesday.
The arrestes were identified as Md. Habibur Rahman, 30 son of Ramzan Ali of Balunda village and Aktarul Islam, 25 son of Md. Ramzan Ali, at Balunda village in Putkhali union of Benapole port police station.
According to the BGB, information came from secret sources that a gold smuggler was smuggling a large quantity of gold to India A BGB patrol team raided the area and arrested Habibur Rahman and Aktarul Islam along with 10 gold bars. The market value of seized gold is Tk 1 crore BGB added.
21-BGB battalion commanding officer Lt. Col Tanveer Ahmed PSC said, BGB members arrested two gold smugglers with 10 gold bars weighing 1 kg 116 grams of gold during smuggling to India. After interrogation, the 2 arrested smugglers was handed over to Benapole police station.
