UNB, Kushtia :
A court here on Wednesday sentenced two people to life term imprisonment for killing a local farmer in Mirpur upazila in 2014.
The convicts are Kamal Hossain, 40, son of Korban Ali of Putimari village in Mirpur upazila and Kamrul Islam, 37, son of Muntaj Ali of the same area.
Of them, Kamal was tried in absentia as he is on the run.
District and Sessions Court Judge Arup Kumar Goswami handed down the verdict and acquitted three other accused in the case.
According to the case statement, the convicts hacked and beat up victim Mirazul Islam on July 4, 2014 suspecting that he has extramarital affair with Kamrul’s wife Rupali Khatun leaving him critically injured.
Later, Mirazul succumbed to his injuries after had been taken to hospital.
