A court here on Wednesday jailed two persons for life in a murder case at Karimganj Upazila on Wednesday ( 29 January).
The convicts are Md. Hanif Mia and Md. Manik Mia, son of Late Haifz Uddin from village Nowabad Halgora under Karimganj Upazila of the district.
They got the penalty and fined Tk. 2 lakh each under Section 302/34 of the Penal Code. The other four
accused Abdus Sattar, Abu Bakkar Siddique, Hasan Ali Munsi and Farida Khatun have been sentenced under Section 323 of the penal code to one year imprisonment and fined of Tk 5,000.
Additional District & Session Judge Mohammad Abdur Rahim handed down the verdict.
As per the prosecution, the convicted persons murdered Safir Uddin over a land dispute on June 10, 2010.
The victim’s younger brother Abdul Halim filed a case against seven persons with Karimganj Police Station.
The case was conducted by Assistant Public Prosecutor Abdul Khalek Dadon on behalf of the state and Adv Ashok Sarker for accused.
