A court in Chittagong on Thursday sentenced two persons to life-term imprisonment for killing a man in Boalkhali upazila of the district.
Fifth additional district and session judge of the Chittagong Nure Alam pronounced the verdict convicting Sujit Chowdhury and Joydip Dotto.
The prosecution story is, in brief, that the convicts gunned down their neighbor Jogodish Chandro Singh over previous enmity beside Shibmondir area of Laxiondigirpar area of Kanungopara under Boalkhali upazila of the district on 15 August in 1996. Victim’s wife Monjusri Singh filed a murder case with Boalkhali thana in this connection. Police submitted charge-sheet against two persons on 12 January in 1997. The court pressed charges and examined a total of 10 prosecution witnesses and pronounced the verdict, ctg court sources said.
