A court here on Sunday sentenced two young men to life term imprisonment each for in a case kidnapping a schoolgirl in Siddhirganj upazila of the district in 2005.
The convicts are Rasel, 23, and Jamir Hossain, 25, both residents of Jalkuri village of the upazila.
The court also fined them Tk 10,000 each, in default, one month’s imprisonment.
According to the prosecution, Rasel and Jamir Hossain kidnapped Ripa Akter, 11, a class VI student of Jalkuri High School and daughter of Abdul Malek of the same village, while she was returning home from school on August 4, 2005.
Police later managed to rescue Ripa from the kidnappers.
The victim’s father Abdul Malek filed a case against the duo with Siddhirganj Police Station.
