A court here on Wednesday sentenced two youths to suffer life term imprisonment for violating a schoolgirl at Mallikpur village under Nalchity upazila of the district in 2014.
The court also fined the convicts Raihan Haulader and Rubel, residents of the same area, Taka one lakh each, a court official said.
Additional District and Session Judge M Bazlur Rahman, who is also the judge of district woman and child repression prevention court, pronounced the verdict.
The prosecution story, in brief, is that the convicts entered the house of the schoolgirl and raped her at night on September 4, 2014. They also stole the valuables of the house.
The victim’s father filed a case with Nalchity Police Station on September 6 of the same year.
Police, after investigation of the case, submitted charge-sheet before the court against them on December 28, 2014.
Later, the judge after examining 13 witnesses and evidence announced the judgment.
