A court here on Wednesday sentenced two people to 14 years imprisonment for abducting a schoolgirl in 2006.
The court also fined the two convicts-Wasim Sheikh, son of Ibad Ali and Babul Morol, son of Akkel Ali—Tk 10,000 each, in default, to suffer two years more rigorous imprisonment.
According to the prosecution, the convicts along with two others associates abducted a class IX student of Purakhali Secondary School of Abhoynagar upazila on September 29, 2006.
When victim’s father filed a case with Abhoynagar Police Station they rescued the girl. Police submitted chargesheet against the four people in the case.
After examining records and witnesses Jashore Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge TM Musa handed down the verdict acquitting two other accused as allegations brought against them could not be proved.
