Two suspected muggers were killed in an alleged gunfight with the law enforcers in city’s Khilkhet area on Thursday morning.
The deceased were identified as Nazmul and Mota Shahin. Both were locally known as active members of local Gamcha party.
They used to swipe the precious thing from the passengers. Bodies of the two victims were sent to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) for autopsies.
Sudip Kumar Chakraborty, Deputy Commissioner (Gulshan Zone) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said, “Two people have been killed in an encounter with police. The incident took place close to Pink City shopping mall in Khilkhet area.
The muggers opened fire on a team of police after sensing their presence on 300 feet road area around 3:00am. Then the law enforcers also fire back in self-defense, the DC said.
They used to take the passengers to their CNG and swiped their precious goods, including cash and cell phone. If anybody refused to give, then they even killed the passengers with the gamcha, he also added.
