Collapse of Rly bridge, sink of oil tankers: 2 engineers suspended, probe bodies formed

Two engineers of Bangladesh Railway, East Zone, Chittagong have been suspended over the plunging of 3 furnace oil laden oil tankers of railway including locomotive engine in Boalkhali canal by collapsing No.24 railway bridge near Bengura station of Boalkhali on Chittagong-Dohazari Railway track on Friday .
Two high powered probe committees of 3-members each in connection headed by Chief Mechanical Engineer of East zone railway Md. Harunur Rashid and the Divisiional Engineer Abidur Rahman have been constituted immediately.
The probe committee have been asked to submit their report by next 3 working days, railway sources said. The suspended engineers are – Asstt. Engineer Abdul Halim and the sub-Asstt.
Engineer Akbar AhmedFerdous are blamed for negligence of their responsibilities , sources said.
 These 8 furnace oil tankers were heading to Dohazari Rental Power plant in south Chittagong for using in the power plant.
Divisional Railway Manager Mofizur Rahman told The New Nation that the salvation work of the oil tankers going in full-swing but the salvation work is hampered due to non-discharge of oil from the tanker.
On the other hand , the train service to and from Chittagong, Dohazari remained suspended and it will take 3 to 4 days to revive the service , he added.
