2 electrocuted while hanging Argentina flag in Dhaka, Munshiganj

The country’s football frenzy ahead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, which will kick off on June 13, is proving rather costly as two football fans died while trying to hang the flag of Argentina in Dhaka and Munshiganj on Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday morning, a young man died from electrocution while trying to hang the flag of Argentina on a two-storey building at Dakkhin Jatrabari area in the capital. The deceased was identified as Sajal, 22, worker of a surgical equipment workshop of the area and son of Abdul Jabaar. Witnesses said Sajal fell from the terrace of a two-storey building when he came in contact with an old electric wire while trying to hang the flag of Argentina ahead of 2014 FIFA World Cup. He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead around 11:30am. DMCH police camp inspector Mozammel Haque confirmed the incident. Earlier on Saturday, a 12-year old school boy named Shihab Hossain met the same fate in his attempt to hang the flag of Argentina on a mango tree at Gopalpur village in Sirajdikhan upazila in Munsiganj. Shihab Hossain was a student of class VI of Shekhor Nagar Ray Bahadur Institute in the area. Locals said Shihab came in contact with an uncovered electric wire while trying to hang the flag of Argentina flag on a mango tree at his village around 8pm yesterday (Saturday).
