A court in Chattogram in an order sent two officials of Election Commission to jail today for alleged involvement in issuing the NID cards to Rohingya nationals in Chattogram. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Osman Gani after bail petition hearing sent them to jail.
The said officials are Sagar Chowdhury and Mr. Shavasundar Dey and they are the No.4 & 4 accused in the FIR of the case. Senior Asstt. Commissioner (Prosecution) Kazi Shahabuddin Ahmed told that these EC officials were granted bail for 4 weeks from the High court in that NID issue case After expiry of HC bail, the accused surrendered before the CMM court, chattogram today with prayer of bail but the court sent them to jail custody rejecting the bail petition. Earlier, Counter Terrorism Unit of Police also detained another two EC officials for alleged involvement with the issue of NID to Rohingyas.
