UNB, Dhaka :
Two Dhaka University students drowned in the Padma River near Mainatghat in Dohar upazila here on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Abrar Nirjhar, 21, and Ahmed Hasan, 20, first year students of the DU Economics Department. Talking to UNB, DU acting proctor Prof Amzad Hossain said a group of 14 students of the department went to Mainatghat around 3 pm to pass their leisure time on the riverbank.
Abrar and Hasan were washed away by strong
current when they along with other students were taking bath in the river. On information, a firefighting team rushed in and recovered the bodies from the river around 5:30 pm.
