2 drug traders killed in shootouts

At least two alleged drug traders were killed in separate drives in the country on Thursday.
 In Meherpur, an unidentified body was recovered from the Sadar thana of the district around 2:30am on Thursday.
Rabiul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station, told the news media that hearing sounds of gunshots, a police team went to a litchi orchard and recovered the body of an unidentified man early in the morning and sent it to a local hospital morgue for autopsy.
Police suspect that the drug traders might have been shot to death over internal conflict among his fellows. The deceased couldn’t be identified instantly. A team of patrol police recovered the bullet-hit body from a litchi orchard, OC added.
A shooter gun and 30 bottles of phensidyl were recovered from the spot, OC added.
In Cumilla, a drug trader named Saiful Islam was killed in a reported gunfight at Cumilla’s Adarsha Sadar upazila during an anti-drug drive on Wednesday evening.
A gang of some 4-5 drug traders carried out an attack on a team of police.
Afterwards, police including its Detective Branch (DB) members launched drives in separate places of the area to nab the attackers. On tip-off, a drive was carried out at Monagram village around 11:45pm.
Sensing presence of the law enforcers, the drug traders opened fire at them. Police fired back in retaliation.
