2 drug peddlers get 5- yr RI

A Chittagong court o Tuesday sentenced two drug traffickers including a female with different term of imprisonment in a case filed for smuggling 1400 pieces contraband yaba in 2016.
The court of Chittagong Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Shah-e-Nur sentenced six year imprisonments to Shamsul Alam and five years imprisonment to Nurussafa Begum. The court also fined the convicts Taka five thousand each, in default to suffer one month more imprisonment.
The convicts are Mohammad Shamsul Alam, son of late Nurul Islam and Nurussafa Begum, wife of Abdul Malek, both hailed from Teqnaf upazila of the Cox’s Bazar district.
Court sources said a team of Narcotic Control Department (NCD) of Chittagong arrested them with 1400 pieces contraband Yaba tablets from Shah Amanat Bridge area on May 19 in 2016.
Later, the NCD team filed a case against them with Karnaphuli Thana on the same day. Police submitted charge-sheet against them on 20 June, 2016 while the court framed charges on November 21, 2016.
