Chittagong Bureau :A boundary wall on a street in the port city collapsed on Tuesday killing two pedestrians . The incident happened following the boundary wall collapse at East Madarbari rail gate area in the port city at 10 am yesterday. The boundary wall of Railway collapsed beside the Abrar Hotel in East Madarbari due to heavy downpour for the last two days in Chittagong and its adjoining areas. Fire service sources said the 6 feet high wall was already in deteriorated condition and huge numbers of fire bricks stored beside the wall by neighbours and due to heavy pressure of brick stack and excessive rain water, the boundary wall collapsed. The victims has been identified as Zannatul Ferdous Kusum, a 40-year-old female and ‘Sudhir Chakraborty ( 35). Kusum is the wife of Monirul Hoque of West Madarbari under Sadarghat thana and Sudhir hails from Noakhali district who is a employee of Chowmuhani Transport Service office in Kadamtali Rail Gate area. Local sources said Kusum Akhter who was on her way to pick up her son from private tuitions, died on the spot, said the police official.Fire service personnel rescued Sudhir from the spot and rushed him to the Chittagong Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) where he was declared dead CMCH police outpost’s Assistant Sub-Inspector Zahirul Islam sources said.
