Two women died while four others remained missing after their boat capsized while crossing the Jamuna River at Chowhali in Sirajganj.
The incident took place at Enayetpur in the upazila on Thursday afternoon. The deceased were identified as Jhilimon of Patashi village of Islampur upazila of Jamalpur and Phul Begum of Kherma Madhyapara village of Dewanganj upazila. Besides, a man named Mohammad Lalon was rescued in a critical condition. He is currently undergoing treatment at Khwaja Yunus Ali Medical College Hospital.
It is learned that they were coming from Jamalpur to Enayetpur Khwaja Yunus Ali majar.
Enayetpur Police Station OC Anisur Rahman said two bodies and one injured person were recovered. I have learned that 4-5 more people are missing. Police and Belkuchi Fire Service reached the scene. The diving team has been informed by Rajshahi. They will come and carry out the rescue operation.
