2-day conference on Al-Biruni held at DU

A two-day international conference titled “Biruni is a Bridge of Cultural, Scientific and Historical Relations between Iran and the Sub-continent” was inaugurated on Wednesday.
The conference began at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate building of Dhaka University (DU) on the 965th death anniversary of the Iranian Scholar Abu Rayhan al-Biruni, Dr. Abu Musa Muhammad Arif Billah, Chairman of Abu Rayhan Biruni Foundation presided over the conference.
Speaking as chief guest, DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddiq said, “We have incorporated numerous Persian words in Bangla language as Bangladesh has had ancient relations with Iranian language, literature and culture”. He emphasized on establishing language, literature, science, technology, mathematical and cultural relation with Iran.
“Al Biruni wrote 146 different books on subjects including Physics, Astronomy, Mathematics, History, Geography, Medicine, Language and Religion”- he said.
