Officials of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) seized two covered-vans laden with electric fans from Nayabazar area under Pahartoli thana on Wednesday.
CIID DG Dr Moinul Khan said, “We’ve seized the covered-vans on charge of misusing the bond facilities.
The raw materials of the fans were imported without paying tax. The fans and the vehicles are worth around Tk 2 crore,” he added.
Moinul also said the traders had planned to sell the fans in the local market, evading government revenue. Legal actions will be taken against those who are involved with the incident, he added.
