A case was filed against two police officials of Kadomtoli Police Station under Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on charge of their alleged involvement in beating a businessman and demanding huge amount of money as extortion.
The arrested persons have been identified as Sub-Inspector (SI) Mizanur Rahman and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Abul Kalam Azad, police said.
Kadomtoli Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdus Salam Mia said that businessman Faruque filed a case with the court of Metropolitan Magistrate SM Masud Zaman on Thursday morning. The accused demanded amount
of Tk 50 lakh from him and threatened him of killing if he refused to pay the money.
The accused were attached with Hazaribagh Police Station during the incident, the police official said.
Police are investigating the case, the OC said.
