Two policemen were killed when a stone-laden truck hit their motorcycle at Hatibandha in Lalmonirhat.
The deceased are: Abdul Matin, sub-inspector, and Mujibul Alam Haji, constable of Hatibandha Police Station.
SI Matin was a resident of Bhurungamari in Kurigram while Constable Mujibul
was from Gangachara upazila in Rangpur, according to police. The accident happened on Lalmonirhat-Burimari road at Khaner Bazar when the two riding the bike were returning to the police station from Barakhata this afternoon, our Lalmonirhat correspondent reports.
The two died on the spot, said Hatibandha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ershadul Alam. The bodies were kept at the police station. The truck which hit their motorbike was seized but its driver and helper managed to flee, the OC said.
