Police have arrested two of their personnel and one of Ansar for their suspected ties to the murder of a man who was among villagers said to be protesting against the arrest of a neighbour in Chittagong’s Sitakunda.
The three arrested law enforcers are Sitakunda Police Station Sub-Inspector Nazmul Huda, Constable Abul Kashem, and Ansar member Ismail Hossain.
Chittagong Superintendent of Police Noor-e-Alam Mina told bdnews24.com on Friday

initial investigation suggests the three went to the scene of the incident in plainclothes.
“We’ve arrested them after taking cognisance of the murder case lodged by the family of the deceased,” he said.
On Wednesday night, law enforcers opened fire during a clash with residents of Teliparha village of Bhatiari union council in Sitakunda.
Three people were shot and injured and one of them, Md Saiful, 22, succumbed to the injuries the same night.
Saiful’s brother Didarul started a murder case on Thursday. The three law enforcers, who were arrested on Friday, were withdrawn from duty after the filing of the case.
The trio said they opened fire in self-defence after coming under attack in an attempt to arrest an accused.
SP Mina said they had formed two committees to investigate the incident.
“If the law enforcers are found guilty in the investigation, they will be punished accordingly,” he said.
