Two convicted prisoners died at Dhaka hospitals on Monday morning.
They deceased are: Mainuddin (89) and AKM Sirajul Islam (64).
Mainuddin was sentenced to 30 years in prison for murder while Sirajul was sentenced to six months in jail for drugs, said Mahbubul Islam, jailor of Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj.
The prison official said Mainuddin was admitted to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital from Kashimpur Central Jail-1 on March 30 with old-age complications.
He breathed his last around 5:45am, he said. Meanwhile, Sirajul was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital after he fell sick at Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj around 10:30am.
He was declared dead by on-duty doctors, Mahbubul added.
Sirajul’s wife Suraiya Hossain said a mobile court sentenced her husband for six months on March 28 and since then he was in jail. He was a diabetic patient, she said adding they visited him twice in the prison.
Both the bodies were kept at the respective hospital morgue for autopsy.
