Factional clash between two groups of chatra league , city unit leaves one dead on Saturday . Sources said, a student of Chittagong Govt City College Md. Yasir was killed and another injured in a clash between two factions of students in the city’s Reaz Uddin bazaar under Kotwali thana on Saturday .
Jashim Uddin, officer-in-charge of Kotwali thana, said two groups of city Chatra league unit were locked into an altercation over establishing supremacy in the locality. At one stage, the altercation turned into a clash when both the groups attacked each other. The clash led to death of Mohammad Yasir, 21, student of Govt city college of the city and injuries to Mohammad Harun, 20.Injured student Harun was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
Meanwhile a college girl was killed in a road accident in Komol Munshir Hat area on Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway under Patiya upazila of the district yesterday.
The victim was identified as Popy Akter, 19, a-2nd-year (Humanities) student of Patiya Government College and daughter of Abdul Gofour, hailed from Fakirpara area of Komol Munshir Hat area under Patiya upazila. Police said the accident occurred when a speedy passenger bus coming from the Chittagong city knocked her in the area around 10 am, leaving Popy injured seriously. Later, she was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where the doctor declared her dead.A case was registered in this connection.
