Two children drowned in a pond at Khardofulbari and Nikhorhata villages in Mohammadpur upazila here on Friday evening.
The deceased were identified as Jannati Khatun, 2, daughter of Jamir Hossain of Khardofulbari village and Abuja, 5, son of Dhalu Molla of Nikhorhata village in the upazila.
Taroknath Biswas, officer-in-charge of Mohammadpur Police Station, said Jannati crawled to the pond and drowned on Friday evening at Khardofulbari village while
Abujar drowned in a pond in Nikhorhata village while playing nearby. Two separate cases were filed in this regard, the OC added.
