2 charges against 4 M’bazar war criminals finalized

The investigation agency of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has finalized two charges of crimes against humanity against four alleged war criminals from Raznagar upazila in Moulvibazar.
Mohammad Abdul Hannan Khan, chief coordinator of the agency, said this to newsmen at a press briefing held at its Dhanmandi office on Wednesday morning.
The four accused are- Akmal Ali Talukder, 76, Abdun Nur Talukder, 62, Md Anis Miah, 76, and Abdul Mochabbir Miah, 64. Of these, only Akmal is now in police custody after getting arrested on November 26, 2015.
All the four were supporters of Muslim League in 1971 and except Akmal, all of the remaining accused are very much active in the politics of local Jamaat. Flanked by senior coordinator Sanaul Haque and investigation officer Hari Debnath, Hannan said they submitted their investigation report to the prosecution yesterday.
“We initiated the probe against the accused in October 12, 2014, and wrapped up the work in one year and five months,” said the probe body boss.
