Detectives arrested two newly elected BNP-backed councillors of Bogra municipality on sabotage charges on Friday, immediately after they took oath.
The arrestees were identified as Tawhidul Alam Bitu, a councillor from ward No 2 and a member of district BNP, and Delwar Hossain Poshari Hiru, a councillor from ward-7 and district Jasas general secretary.
A team of Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested them while they were leaving the Pouro Shaheed Titu Auditorium around 12pm after taking oath.
Later, they were taken to the DB office, said Amirul Islam, officer-in-charge of DB police.
They were accused in sabotage cases, added the OC.
