A mob has beaten two youths to death in Sirajganj’s Kamarkhand. Locals claim they were extorting money.
Police found one of the bodies with a bruised head, while the other was found mangled by the wheels of a train.
One was identified as ‘Majnu’, 35 while police failed to identify the other.
Kamarkhand Police OC Babul Uddin Sardar said a few youths went to the followers of traditional faith at the Jhhaila village to extort money on Thursday evening. The locals chased and caught two of them and beat them up.
After news of the incident spread, police went to the spot and recovered the dismembered body of the
youth lying on rail tracks. The unidentified man was around 35 years old.
Police believes he was left on the railway line after he had been beaten to death.
Majnu’s body was found in the morning in a bush near the village market. Police recovered the body after the locals had informed them of it.
OC Babul Udding said Majnu had two cases of robbery and murder against him at the Kamakhand Police Station and at the Jamuna Bridge Police Station (west).
Both the bodies were sent to the Sirajganj Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
