2 BCL men held over snatching

Two activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League, Ziaur Rahman Hall of Dhaka University (DU) and Dhaka Polytechnic Institute units were arrested on Thursday night on charge of snatching in the Suhrawardy Udyan of the capital.
They have been identified as Mahbub Alam of Islamic History and Culture Department, DU and Piash Chowdhury of Dhaka Polytechnic Institute activist. Police filed a case against them in this connection.
Police confined another two activists of BCL Ziaur Rahman Hall unit for going to Shahbagh Police Station to plead for Mahbub and Piash. They were, however, released taking a bond.
They are Mahmudul Hasan of Health Economics Department and Mirazul Islam of Pali and Buddhist Studies Department.
BCL Ziaur Rahman Hall unit President Yousuf Uddin Khan said, it is the University Authority, which can take any action deemed fit through fair investigation.
 Officer-in-Charge of Shahbagh Police Station Abul Hasan said, we arrested the two students on charge of snatching and filed a case against them.
 DU Proctor (Acting) Professor M Amjad said, the complainant of the case Majedunnabi is a former student of Jagannath University.
