UNB, Dhaka:
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two people from Shahpur area in Joypurhat district town early Monday in connection with the removal of fishplates from the rail tracks of Khulna-Rajshahi and Rajshahi-Dhaka routes in Sadar upazila on Thursday.
The arrested were identified as Dulal, 42, and Suman, 20, both residents of the same area.
RAB officials said on secret information, a team of RAB-5 conducted a drive in the area and arrested the duo around 3:30 am.
Major Abdur Rahim, commanding officer of RAB-5, confirmed the arrest.
Rail communications on the Khulna-Rajshahi and Rajshahi-Dhaka routes remained snapped from early Thursday as miscreants removed fishplates from about a 36 feet stretch of the rail line at Uri Madhabpur in Sadar upazila of Joypurhat district during the countrywide indefinite transport blockade.
BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia called the countrywide indefinite blockade from Tuesday last as the government did not allow her party and allies to hold protest rallies in the capital.
