2 AL MPs, leaders among 22 banned from leaving country

The Anti-Corruption Commission on Wednesday imposed a ban on 22 people, mostly leaders of ruling Awami League and Member of Parliament Nurunnabi Chowdhury Shawon and Shamsul Hoque Chowdhury, from travelling abroad.
The travel ban was imposed after primary shreds of evidence were found that they were involved with money laundering and trying to leave the country, said the commission’s public relations officer.
Names of the 22 people came under ACC scanner after it recently launched inquiries following the government’s crackdown against illegal casinos and quick money makers.
Among others who have been banned from traveling abroad are the arrested Jubo League leader SM Golam Kibria Shamim alias GK Shamim, the outgoing leader of the Metropolitan South Jubo League Khaled Mahmood Bhuiyan, Director in Charge of Mohammedan Club Lokman Hossain Bhuiyan, Dhaka Metropolitan Jubo League South President Ismail Chowdhury Samrat, Enamul Haque Arman, Kalabagan Krira Chakra President Mohammad Shafiqul Alam (Feroz), Online Casino’s Samrat Selim Prodhan and Ward Councillor Habibur Rahman (Mizan).
The others are Gendaria Thana Awami League Vice-President Enamul Haque Enu and his brother Gendaria thana Awami League Joint Secretary Rupan Bhuiya, Central Jubo League’s expelled Office Secretary Kazi Anishur Rahman and his wife Sumi Rahman, Lokman Hossain Bhuiyan and his wife Nabila Lokman, former Chief Engineer of Public Works Department Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, former Additional Chief Engineer of Public Works Department Abdul Hai, Ward Councillor AKM Mominul Haque Saeed and former Managing Director of NRB Global Bank Prashant Kumar Haldar.
Besides, Abul Kalam Azad (Azad Rahman), an employee of the Dhaka Wanderers Club, aide of Enamul Haque, owner of Zakir Enterprises, Kakrail, Dhaka, Zakir Hossain and Segunbagicha Shafiq Enterprise Owner Shafiqul Islam also have been banned from travelling abroad.
