The authority of Bangladesh Railway (BR), Eastern Zone on Monday in a drive recovered two acres of its land from a land-grabber in city’s Pahartali area in the city.
Divisional Estate Officer of BR, eastern zone, Ishrat Reza conducted the three-hour drive and recovered the BR land by evicting an asphalt plant at city’s Segunbagichha under Pahartali thana.
The railway officer said the asphalt plant illegally set up by local ward councilor Mohammad Hossain Hiron on the BR land was polluting environment and creating health hazard.
Besides this land, the ward councilor has illegally been occupying huge railway lands by setting up shops, CNG garages, so-called offices of different political parties and other establishments for years, the BR officer said.
