Benapole Customs authorities seized 2.5 tonnes of world’s largest sexual “viagra” powder consignment worth Tk 12 crore imported from India by false declaration on Wednesday.
Customs Commissioner Belal Hossain Chowdhury said the reporters in a press conference at Benapole Customs Club on Wednesday afternoon.
Customs sources said that Biozid Enterprise, a Dhaka-based importer, have imported 2,250kg of “sodium starch salts” from India through false declaration. Whose LC No-94619010342 is dated: 21/5/19. Customs Manifest Number-19193 Date: 26/5/19
Customs officials seized the product shipment on July 5 in the afternoon, whose bill of entry number-C-36496, dated 29/5/19, were reported secretly while the goods were delivered from the port.
After careful examination with the help of “Raman Spectrometer” and other instruments in the custom house’s laboratories, Viagra confirmed the matter.
Later, for further confirmation, samples of the product were sent to BUET, BCSIR, Khulna Engineering University and technologies (Kuet) and the Drug Administration Department of dhaka for consideration of highly sensitive products.
After a month BUET and BCSIR test the product was reported as “Sodium Starch Glycollate”. Subsequently, the customs authorities again sent the samples to the Drug Administration of Dhaka and KUET for examination.
They tested the product for a long time and found that 98.5% sex viagra was found in the test report. The customs authorities confirmed the immediately after receiving the report.
The 12th member of the World Customs Organization, despite long warnings on smuggling of drugs, explosives and such harmful products, has been detained in Bangladesh for the first time such shipment in the world.
When the matter was reported to the National Board of Revenue, they instructed Benapole Customs House Commissioner Belal Hossain Chowdhury to work very carefully

The C & F Agent Signy Shipping Services license has been suspended. The Investigation Committee will submit their investigation report within the next 15 days. Customs sources said criminal cases will be filed against the culprits after receiving the investigation report.
