Members of Armed Police Battalion (APBn) seized at least 21 gold bars weighing 2.1 kilograms worth around Tk 95 lakh and arrested two persons in this connection at from Hazrat Shahjalal International (HSIA) Airport early Friday.
The arrested persons are Abu Yusuf Ali, 31, and Masud Mia, 38, APBn official sources said.
Tanjina Akhter, Assistant Police Super of Airport APBn, said that police arrested them with the gold bars from outside the canopy No. 2.
Nine gold bars were kept in Yusuf’s hand bag and 12 in Masud’s bag, the police official said.
They came to Dhaka from Dubai by an Air Asia flight around 2:00am, he said. A case had been filed in this connection.
