The 1st Walton Cup Baseball Competition began at the Paltan Maidan on Tuesday.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Sikder inaugurated the two-day long baseball meet as the chief guest while Head of Sports & Welfare Division of Walton Group FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn was with him as the special guest. Assistant Director of Walton Group Kazi Mostafizur Rahman, Advisor of ATN Bangla Mir Md Motahar Hossain, President of Bangladesh Baseball-Softball Association Md Solaiman, General Secretary of the Association Aminul Islam Liton were present at the time.
In the day’s first match, Sirajganj District Sports Association defeated Dhaka District team by 13-3 points at the same venue.
In the day’s second match, Mirpur Government Bangla College beat Donia University College by 8-2 points at the same venue.
A total of six teams are taking part in the baseball competition. They are: Dhaka Commerce College, Mirpur Bangla College, Donia University College, Dhaka District team, Narail District Sports Association and Sirajganj District Sports Association.
