The 1st 3-day long international conference on ‘Film, Media and Journalism Studies’ has began at Prof. Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury auditorium of Dhaka University (DU) yesterday, says a press release .
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated this conference as chief guest. DU Television, Film and Photography Department and American International University Bangladesh have jointly organized this international conference marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Presided over by Chairperson of DU Television, Film and Photography Department Mrs. Habiba Rahman the inaugural function was addressed by BIMSTEC Secretary General Ambassador M. Shahidul Islam and Dean of Social Sciences Faculty Prof. Dr. Sadeka Halim as special guests. The inaugural function was also addressed, among others, by convener of the conference organizing committee Prof. Dr. AJM Shafiul Alam Bhuiyan.
DU VC Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman thanked the organizers of this international conference and hoped that the participants would be highly benefited by this conference. They would also gather knowledge from this conference to play a significant role to stop misuses of media and contribute to make the fourth industrial revolution a success, DU VC added. Member countries of Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) – Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Nepal and Bhutan are participating at this conference.
