A day long first ever international conference on “Digital Education” jointly organized by the Department of Development Studies of Dhaka University (DU) and BacBon Foundation was held on Wednesday at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university. DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated the conference.
Chairman of the Department of Development Studies of DU Prof. Dr. M. Abu Eusuf presided over the function. Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid MP addressed the program as chief guest while Governor of Bangladesh Bank Prof Dr Atiur Rahman and Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh Masato Watanabe addressed it as special guests.
Vice-Chancellor of Daffodil International University Prof Dr Yousuf Mahbubul Islam, Japanese Professors and experts Dr Yonekura Seiichiro, Toshiaki Yoshida, Tagunoby Ogino and Kanako Sujuki delivered key-note speeches.
Founder of BacBon Maheen Matin and President of Data Soft Mahoob Zaman also addressed it.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid MP called upon the young generation to prepare themselves as skilled human resources to make Bangladesh a modern country. He stressed the need for expanding ICT based modern education in the country to face global challenges of the 21st century.
DU VC Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique urged the young generation to work hard to demolish all obstacles to attain digital Bangladesh as envisioned by our Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
He said we have to change our education landscape by digitizing the entire teaching-learning environment in the country. Digital education paradigm has become almost mandatory to meet the needs at different educational crossroads, he added. The Vice-Chancellor thanked the Japanese delegation for attending the first international conference on digital education at the university.
He said, the bilateral relationship between Bangladesh and Japan has been growing steadily every since. This relationship will strengthen further in the days to come, he hopped.
