The Walton 1st Inter-College Women’s Baseball Championship will start at Sultana Kamal Women’s Sports Complex in the city’s Dhanmondi on July 11.
Bangladesh Baseball-Softball Association will arrange the baseball tournament under auspices of Walton Group.
Regarding the upcoming baseball competition, a press conference was held at the conference room of National Sports Council Tower on Thursday.
General Secretary of Bangladesh Baseball-Softball Association Aminul Islam Liton, Operative Director and Head of Sports & Welfare Department of Walton Group FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn spoke at the conference. Assistant General Manager of Walton Group Mehrab Hossain Asif was also present at the conference, among others.
Secretary of Youth and Sports of Bangladesh Awami League Harunur Rashid will inaugurate the three-day long baseball competition as the chief guest.
A total of eight teams splitting into two groups will compete in the knockout base tournament. They are: Rajarbag Police Lines School & College, Viqarunnisa Noon School & College, Dhaka Commerce College, Nur Mohammad College, Holy Cross College, Green James College, Central Women’s College and Tongi Amzad Ali School & College.
Each participating team will be given Taka five thousand as participation money.
Besides, the champions, the runners-up and the best player of the tournament will get attractive prizes.
The final and the prize-giving ceremony will be held on July 13.
