The government has finally selected 199 graduate youths from the 3028 candidates for second batch through competitive online examination to develop them as future IT leaders.
They said of the 199 youths, 100 have been selected for IT Enabled Services (ITES) and 93 for IT Services (ITS) aiming to provide them three-month extensive quality training under Fast Track Future Leader (FTFL) Training Programme.
The training of 199 youths would be the part of 4,000 youths to be developed as future IT leaders under FTFL Training Programme of Leveraging ICT for Growth, Employment and Governance (LICT) Project under ICT Division, said the LICT project director Md. Rezaul Karim.
He said experts and academics have been engaged to provide training that would begin at Comilla BARD from 28 October. He said the World Bank financed Leveraging ICT for Growth, Employment and Governance (LICT) Project will create a total of 34,000 skilled-manpower by providing them three categories of training to meet the growing demand in the ICT sector.
Among the three categories 4,000 youths to be developed as future IT leaders under FTFL Training Programme, 10,000 youths under Top-Up IT Training and 20,000 under ITES foundation training, said Karim.
The government has ensured a quality training involving the experts in the IT sector to fill skill gap of fast growing IT and IT Enabled Service sector, said Director of National Data Center and LICT deputy project director Tarique M Barkatullah.
He said lack of skilled-manpower has been identified as one of the major problems to flourish the ICT sector and LICT project has been working to create at least 34,000 skilled-manpower for the sector.
The interesting part is: the IT industries and organizations have already provided job to the youths trained in the first batch under FTFL training programme, Tarique said.
