194 Dengue cases detected in Kishoreganj, Sylhet

At least 139 cases of dengue have been detected at different upazila in Kishoreganj district till Tuesday.
A total of 59 patients out of the number were admitted to Government and private hospitals till Tuesday afternoon.
Of them to 32 dengue patients have been admitted to kishoreganj General Hospital while 26 to Jahurul Islam Medical College Hospital in Bajitpur, one in Abdul Hamid Medical College Hospital,One in Pakundia.
Three referred to Dhaka, told Civil Surgeon Dr. Habibur Rahman.
Dr. Sultana Razia, Deputy Director of kishoreganj- 250- bed General Hospital told The New Nation that all patients have infected with dengue in Dhaka and they are taking treatment in Kishoreganj General Hospital.
Kishoreganj district administration including Civil Surgeon Office arranged anti- dengue awareness campaigns in 8 Municipality areas and 13 upazillas of the district.
A awareness meeting with students was held at local Prom square in the town on Tuesday morning.
Deputy Commissioner Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury presided over the meeting.
It was addressed , among others by Civil Surgeon Dr.Habibur Rahman, Additional SP (Promoted SP) Nazmul Islam, Mayor Mahamud Pervez, ADC (G) Abdullah Al Masud, CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito, Sadar Health & Family Planning officer Dr. Mustafizur Rahman, District Press Club President Mostafa Kamal, Women leader Bilkis Begum and CAB District Secretary Monowar Hossein Rony.
Later, a colourfull rally was brought out in the town on Tuesday morning.
Sylhet Bureau adds: Mosquito borne infectious disease Dengue has been spreading also in Sylhet Region affecting 55 in hospitals in last six days.
According to Sylhet M.A.G Osmani Medical College Hospital and divisional health directorate office in last 10 days 55 dengue patients admitted at different hospitals of the division and 32 remained under treatment in different hospitals.
32 dengue patients were undergoing treatment at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
The hospital’s Assistant Director Anisur Rahman said they do not have facilities to test antibody and antigen — mandatory to detect dengue, adding that they have fixed a 12-bed dengue corner at the hospital to facilitate patients and formed a specialised team.
Debapada Roy, Director of Health in Sylhet, said as far as they were informed the patients were infected in Dhaka. 32 dengue infected patients admitted in this Sylhet OMCH from July-25 to till this report in 6 days and out them 17 released and 25 remained under treatment at the hospital.
‘As many dengue-infected people will come home ahead of Eid, the disease might spread rapidly in the region,’ he added.
Brig. General Unusur Rahamn, Director, Sylhet OMCH said 32 dengue infected patients admitted in this hospital from July-25 to till this report in 6 days.
