Chittagong City Corporation distributed 190 flats to the workers engaged in conservancy work in the city . CCC constructed four buildings for the workers(known as Sebok) at Bundel Road in city .
City Mayor M Manzoor Alam handed over the key of the respective flats to the Seboks on Monday evening in a function arranged there. Mayor in the distributing function told that rehabilitation of the Harizon community working in CCC was one of the election pledges of city Mayor. He said beside the rehabilitation of Seboks, City Mayor has fulfilled other election commitments like accommodation , regularization of service, employment of the dependents and increase of pay and allowances.
He called upon the Sebok to discharge their duties with sincere and cordiality aimed at keeping the city neat and clean. He also mentioned that CCC will request the Srayeen committee of Sitakunda to provide lands on lease for the Horizon community of the city .
Mayor also mentioned that a student quota will be determined for the sons and daughters of Horizon community for getting admission in Premier University aimed at higher education by their sons.CCC sources said four six-storied buildings have been constructed under ADP budget at a cost of Tk.2 cr of each building. Among the four buildings, 3 built in Bundel road and One at Feringhee bazaar sebok colony.
Total number of flats is 190 consists of two rooms, kitchen, bath in each flat. He also disclosed that the old deteriorated buildings will be demolished in phases aimed at constructing new buildings in same spaces.
Maydin Sardar presided over the function while the councilor Jaharlal Hazari, CCC Secretary Rashid Ahmed, chief conservancy officer Sheikh Shafiqul Mannan siddiqui, Gadul sardar, Sam Das sardar, Chiringhee Lal Sardar and Gurucharan Das spoke on the occasion.
