19 Rokeya Varsity teachers quit post

Ten teachers of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur on Sunday resigned from the posts they were holding after their demand for promotion went unheeded.
The teachers rendered
their resignation letters to university assistant registrar Morshed Alam, said campus sources.
The teachers who submitted resignation letters are Dr Hafizur Rahman Selim, Dr Saidul Haque, Dr Morshed Hossain, Ali Rayhan, Tariqul Islam, Rafiul Azam, Zahid Hossain, Sheikh Mazed, Saidur Rahman and Taniya Tofaz.
The teachers alleged that although their promotion was long overdue, the authorities were not elevating them to the ranks of associate professor and assistant professor respectively.
Begum Rokeya University Teachers’ Association president Dr Saidul Haque and general secretary Dr Parimal Chandra Barman said teachers resigned from their respective posts as the authorities did not meet their demand.
Dr AKM Nur-un-Nabi, Vice-chancellor of the university, said he heard that ten teachers tendered their resignation.
