Law enforcers detained at least 19 alleged robbers, including some members of fake Detective Branch (DB) of Police, from the city’s different areas from Thursday night to Friday morning.
Police also seized two private cars, mobile
phones, machetes and knife from their possession, police said.
Muntasirul Islam, Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said that a team of Jatrabari Police raided the area and arrested them.
Along with that, a listed criminal, Jony, was held with a pistol in his possession, the Police official said.
Four robbers demanded extortion from a shop in Jatrabari by introducing themselves as DB personnel.
The arrested persons were being interrogated, he said.
A case was filed in this connection, the DC said.
