The candidates backed by 19-party alliance has won the upazila polls in Gomostapur upazila under Chapainawabganj district.
The winner in the post of the chairman is Bairul Islam of BNP. He got 74,418 votes in cup-saucer symbol and his nearest candidate Humayun Reza of AL got 59,731 votes in pine apple symbol.
In the post of vice chairman, Tajer Hossain of Jamaat won the polls by getting 83,779 votes in lock symbol. His nearest candidate Harun Biswas of AL got 51,950 votes in spectacles symbol.
In the post of woman vice chairman, Nurunnesa of BNP won getting 75,944 votes in duck symbol and her nearest candidate Miliara Khatun of AL got 55,068 votes in pitcher symbol.
There were 1,73,900 votes and 66 polling centres in the upazila. The polls were held peacefully and six candidates in which two in each post contested the polls.
