A total 18,960 fishermen, who live by fishing at the Kaptai Lake, have been brought under a special Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) card programme during the ban period of fishing in the lake this season.
Under the supervision of deputy commissioner’s office, upazila nirbahi officers (UNOs) of Langadu, Barkal, Baghaichhari, Juraichhari, Naniarchar, Kaptai, Belaichhari and Rangamati Sadar will distribute the cards among the fishermen in their respective areas. As per the programme, each fisherman will get total 60 kg of rice in three months.In the first month, total 319 metric tons of food grain was allocated from the Ministry of Relief and Disaster Management.
